The CORD coalition and the Jubilee party have moved to the coastal region with a bang with each party campaigning for their own candidates.

CORD being led by Raila Odinga, wants Malindi people to elect William Mtengo. He took his campaigns to the coastal town calling people to vote for Mtengo.

On the other hand, the deputy president, William Ruto took his campaign to Malindi where he urged the public to vote for Philip Charo for them to enjoy benefits from the government.

Raila said President Uhuru Kenyatta failed Kenyans when he called them thieves. He argued that the president painted a negative picture of Kenya to other countries. He, however, said Kenyans are not thieves.

Ruto on his side said the opposition's dream is to see Kenya divided. He called on the Malindi people to vote for the Jubilee candidate saying the Jubilee government will stand with them and unite them by settling all land issues in the area.

Malindi is set to go on by-elections on Monday, March 7. The area is, however, believed to be a CORD stronghold.
