Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa has asked Coalition of Reforms and Democracy (Cord) leader Raila Odinga to retire from politics.
This is after a report by Ipsos Synovate pollster which showed a section of Kenyans want Odinga to quit politics.
Speaking at Kikuyu town, Ichung’wa said that Odinga’s retirement is long overdue after several failed attempt to ascend to Kenya’s presidency.
The legislator claimed Jubilee party, which he belongs, will clinch the presidency in 2017 saying Odinga should consider not running for the presidency to save being embarrassed after another defeat.
"Mr. Odinga should now retire from. If he waits until 2017 it will be too late for him and shameful as President Kenyatta will beat him in the presidential race,"Ichung'wa said.
The MP termed Cord as an outfit of old politics, saying many of them have been into politics for more than two decades and hence should all consider retiring from politics.
“Cord old guards should hang the boots and allow a new generation of leaders run in 2017 elections,” he said.
