Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdi Hassan has warned corrupt chiefs who collude with criminals that they will be sacked.

Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Hassan said there are some chiefs who hide criminals in their areas of jurisdiction after they give them bribes.

"I have received reports from the public that there are some chiefs and assistant chiefs who hide criminals after they have been given some money at the expense of wananchi’s safety," he said.

He said those who will be found ‘protecting’ criminals will be shown the door since they are putting the safety of the people they are supposed to protect at risk.

"I give a stern warning to such chiefs and their assistants that I will not tolerate such individuals since they were appointed to serve wananchi and not to steal from them," he said.

He urged the public to stay vigilant and report any chief they suspect to be helping gangsters, saying that stern actions will be taken against them.

"You the public are our eyes outside there, report any chief who is corrupt and we won’t relent but show him the door," he said.
