Kenyans have been told to stand with the government in the fight against Al Shabab.
Central Organisation of Trade Union Deputy Secretary General Benson Okwaro said the government needs support from its citizens.
Mr Okwaro said security of a nation is fundamental and efforts being made by the government to safeguard its people must be supported.
“This is a time we must be together, the country has lost soldiers who were in the battle field defending this nation,” he said.
He called upon politicians to sop politicizing the situation and remain united in the wake of the attack of the KDF base in Somalia.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Thursday at Tom Mboya Labour College after opening a workshop for women leaders, Okwaro said the blame game being propelled by politicians should stop.
He said it is time to be in grief with the families of the soldiers who were killed instead of politicking.
“The soldiers who died have families and it is shameful for leaders to talk negatively about that issue. Let us mourn with them,” he said.
Okwaro urged the government to come out and make it clear how many were affected to end the anxiety and romour mongering.
“To end this anxiety, I appeal to the government to tell Kenyans the truth about the KDF killings,” he said.
