National Council for Persons With Disability Uasin Gishu County Chairman Titus Yego has urged Kenyans not to stigmatise people living with disabilities.
Speaking during the United Nation Disability Day celebration on Thursday in Eldoret, Mr Yego said people living with disability have been sidelined.
“People living with disability have been sidelined when it comes to employment opportunities, allocation of bursaries," he said.
He said Kenyans should stop seeing people living with disability as beggars.
He also urged people living with disability to apply for job opportunities for them to compete in life.
He urged the Uasin Gishu county government to implement the 5 per cent employment opportunities for people with disability as enshrined in the Constitution.
The Constitution says that the vulnerable group should be given priority in employment.
