The Kiambu government has allocated Sh52.68 million to Gituamba Ward for various development projects.
Speaking in his office in Gituamba on Tuesday, area MCA Sammy Ng’ang’a said the funds were released last week and are geared towards improving the livelihoods of Gituamba residents.
“We have set Sh52.68 million as a county for the development of this ward. The cash was approved last week and will be put to use beginning next week. We want to complete the Mataara water project, renovate the Gituamba-Gatunguru road and also buy Sh6.2 million drugs for our dispensaries,” he said.
Ngang’a revealed that Sh4.5 million would also be used to improve sporting activities in the area as well as initiating youth projects.
Gatunguru Primary School will get Sh2.5 million for construction of two latrines after one of its block latrines was destroyed by winds in October, he added.
The ward representative urged residents to cooperate in development adding that various projects would employ area youths.
He requested all residents who have attained the age of 18 years to apply for national identity cards as well as voter’s cards citing them as crucial documents that determine community and country growth.
