Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has challenged the Nakuru government to assure residents of the 30 per cent jobs allocated for the disabled as promised.
Speaking in Gathioro, Lanet Umoja when he donated food to the needy, Ngunjiri said he was not happy with how the disabled were being treated and wants urgent action from Governor Kinuthia Mbugua in ensuring the disabled are also considered for jobs.
“Let the county government show us whether the 30 per cent of the jobs set aside for the disabled is being implemented so that they can provide their basic needs because this is one of the structures that has been approved by the government,” Ngunjiri said on Sunday.
The lawmaker also called on the county government to support women groups and youths since that will ensure equality and development rather than serving their own interests.
“It is a shame to see us leaders only committed to ensuring our wants are achieved yet we forget those who elected us,” the MP added.
He was accompanied by other local leaders during the distribution of food to the needy which saw residents turn up in large numbers to receive the donations.
