Poverty, ignorance and the style of living of some families are the major challenge and causes of jiggers in most households.
The county government and other stakeholders have been challenged to come up with measures in aid of helping the affected families.
According to Kisii county community clinical officer, Kepha King’oina jiggers is still a challenge in many parts of the county which needs an immediate solution.
King’oina who was speaking at Nyanchwa area said that most families have been affected with jiggers and furthermore no one takes care of them.
“Jiggers is still affecting many people mostly in rural areas and no one is taking care of them," said King'oina.
"We need to come up with some measures on how we can end this in our society,” said King’oina.
King'oina added that Jiggers has been a challenging issue to tackle in his job, but he hopes that one day some volunteers will come and help the affected families.
"the county government and other stakeholders should come up with measures on how to end this menace in our villages.
To the community, he advised them not to sideline the affected instead they should show them love and report the case to community clinical officers for any assistance.
