The event which was conducted at the Nyayo gardens in Nakuru Town and which coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities saw Education CeC Francis Mathea and County Speaker Susan Kihika distribute the goodies.

Mathea noted that individuals who are disabled continue to face turbulent times during this season of El Nino rains and deserved help from the society.

The CeC further added that the county government was fully committed to alleviating the living standards of people living with disabilities, noting that a lot was in the offing for them.

"As a county, we are truly committed to helping our disabled brothers and sisters and I urge them to prepare for more opportunities that are soon coming their way," he said.

Kihika challenged the county government to consider employing more disabled people, noting that their input was important.

"I urge the county government to consider seeking the services of disabled people in all quarters of its economy because they have shown that they are very capable of delivering," she said.

Jonah Ngatia, a beneficiary of the blanket donation, was full of praise for the county government saying that he had now been guaranteed comfortable nights.

"I am happy because the county government has given me a reason to smile. Now I can sleep well covered in my new blanket," he said.
