Kisumu town service matatu operators have appealed to the county government to expand the matatu stage.
According to the operators the current stage in town is too small to handle the growing number of matatu's in the town.
Speaking on Saturday, the Kisumu Town Service Matatu Association deputy Secretary General Stephen Omulo said that the stage should either be expanded or the matatus be allowed to service across the whole town.
"Matatu's in this business are ever expanding daily, we hope with the new year the county government will come up with a means which will enable all of them to be accommodated once," said Omulo.
He said that the scramble for space might soon result to conflict as everybody will struggling to get the best.
"Unless it is expanded we see a potential scenario where conflict might arise among different operators, nobody wants to see this happen," added Omulo.
Omulo said that the county government can also allow the operators to move to different places within town as a way of easing pressure.
"We feel that we are not adequately serving the people of Kisumu because we have been limited. We call on the local administration to allow them into different areas," added Omulo.
