The lanterns have been delivered already and the project is expected to be completed in two weeks.

''We are going to begin from inside the market. Then light its surroundings. The project is expected to be completed in the next two weeks,'' said Joseph Kisabuli, the contractor.

The existing lighting system in the market does not work, forcing most traders to close their businesses as early as 7 pm.

Kisabuli also urged residents to give them ample time as they begin the work and urged traders to be patient.

''Give us ample time and space as we begin the works for the duration of time we will be here. This is for our own benefit and so don’t see it as wasting your time,'' says Kisabuli.

Traders are expected to take advantage of the opportunity to lengthen working hours.
