Shadrack Mose has criticised Nyamira county government for failing to rehabilitate feeder roads in the region.

Speaking in Miriri region on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy call to Miriri Youth Group, Mose, who narrowly lost to incumbent MP Timothy Bosire, said the county had failed to live to expectations of the locals, mostly peasant farmers.

He said Kitutu Masaba constituency was given a raw deal by the county government in the 240 km road that is currently under construction in all four constituencies.

“The county government is being very slow in improving feeder roads. Little is being done to improve our roads unlike what I am seeing in other regions. Time has come for the county government to serve all regions equally because it’s their mandate to do so,” he said.

Mose said it was difficult for area farmers to transport their farm produce to markets due to the quality of feeder roads and blamed the county for failing to put into use money set aside to combat effects of El Nino rains in the region.

“It’s becoming very cumbersome for farmers to transport their produce to markets and this is the right time to put into use the millions that were set aside to mitigate effects of El Nino rains. They have tampered with drainage systems in existing roads. We need to see an action,” he added.

Mose is a leading Nairobi Lawyer and emerged second in Kitutu Masaba in 2013 general elections, losing narrowly to Timothy Bosire.
