A section of tea farmers from Kitutu Masaba Constituency has challenged the county government of Nyamira to partner with the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA) to fulfill their pledge of constructing roads.
According to them, due to heavy rains that are pounding the region, many roads are in a pathetic situation since they were not rehabilitated as it was promised by the Nyamira government and KTDA.
Joshua Ochoka, a tea farmer who sope to this writer on Friday said that the county government early in 2015 promised to partner with KTDA to renovate some roads as one way of boosting agriculture through easing transport of inputs and produce.
“Since it started raining we have been experiencing a problem of our tea staying in buying centers for more than two days when roads are impassable,” said Ochoka
They are appealing to the county government to fulfil its promises and help them to construct such roads for the benefit to the farmers overall county development.
Susan Giteya, a te farmer also said that during rain season they harvest is higher and they expect their tea leaves to be transported early so that they can reap maximum benefits.
