The county government of Nyamira has been lauded for expanding Mochwenwa dispensary which reportedly serves over 200 people per week from the region.
The county government chipped in following a petition by local residents who called for expansion of the dispensary’s capacity due to unprecedented congestion that was occasionally witnessed in the region.
The new building, which is expected to handle an estimated population of 30 patients was unveiled on Sunday morning by Gesima MCA Ken Atuti, who also announced deployment of two more nurses to the dispensary.
“On behalf of these residents, I want to thank the county government for expediting construction of the annex. This means that the dispensary will be accommodating more patients with the additional beds and rooms for staff. This will also minimize congestion at Keroka District hospital because some cases will be handled here,” said Peterson Nyabwari.
They also commended the county leadership for improving the standard of the road leading to the dispensary which according to them was in a deplorable state.
“Also, the accessibility to the dispensary will be a bit easy since the road has also been repaired. We really thank the county for that. This dispensary will also be able to handle a number of extreme medical cases since the staff has also been increased,” he added.
Atuti on his party urged residents to give the county government time to fix a number of challenges they were facing at grassroots.
“As your MCA, I am determined to have infrastructure, agriculture and a health services improved. The county is working with limited resources so it’s important that we give the county government humble time to execute its mandate,” he said.
