The EACC graft commission on Wednesday finalised its two-day training for Garissa county officials.
The session majorly focused on the prudent use of public resources and conflict of interests in development projects.
According to Dabar Ali Maalim, an EACC commissioner involved in the training, the training held at Garissa Farmers Trading Centre educated the state officials on their duties as custodian of public installations and how they can use the resources to enhance their performance.
‘'The training was meant to equip county officers with general knowledge on how they can transact their duties more efficiently. They were trained on how best they can handle huge allocations bestowed on them and general procurement procedures,'’ he said.
Maalim, a former commissioner who worked with the defunct Transition Authority, issued that mega corruption scandals in the country rotated around procurement processes.
He, however, said corrupt cartels followed allocated resources, and lack of competent human personnel who are conversant with procurement protocols county levels had largely contributed to the prevalence of massive scandals at county governments.
