The county government of Kisumu has partnered with the Kenya Youth Business Trust (KYBT), a non-governmental organisation in a programme that aims at economically empowering youth.
Announcing the deal dubbed 'Wezesha Project' at his office on Thursday, Governor Jack Ranguma confirmed that the program delves at training the youth and equipping them with ideas on how to access funds to finance their businesses.
"Through this program, we seek to develop an all-round student whereby our all-inclusive training will prepare them for the competitive job market once they are through with the training," he said.
"They will also be equipped with ideas on how to finance and even run their businesses," he added.
The governor reaffirmed his commitment to the youth who he pledged to support through his manifesto.
"I am very pleased to fulfil the pledges I had made to the youth which are now rapidly coming to fruition. This is just but a fraction of the plans I have in store for the youth whom are the backbone of sustenance for any society," he said.
The ,Wezesha Project, targets the youth from Manyatta, an informal settlement in Kisumu city.
