Kisii County government has set aside Sh2 million to be used in planting five million trees to improve forest cover across the county.

Speaking in Kisii town on Monday Director of Nema Samson Bokea said the county has put measures in place to make sure the environment is well improved in the county.

He also said the county will plant trees in three schools in every ward according to their target of improving the environment.

“We need our county to be well in matters environment that is why the county has set aside some funds to be used in planting trees in Nyangweta forest in South Mugirango constituency and in every three schools in every ward,” said Bokea.

Bokea challenged county residents to embrace environment by planting trees as they cut down other trees to take care of the environment.

“Once we have good environment everything will be in good condition I am urging those who have the behavior of cutting trees to also plant others as they cut,” added Bokea.
