Kangundo sub-county residents have called upon the authority to hunt down notorious bar owners and illicit alcohol sellers and toughen the punishment.

The residents have urged their area OCS Morris Okul to ensure that the bar owners who break the rules are put under severe punishment so as to serve as a good example to the rest.

Speaking to Miss Mutinda a teacher and also a parent in Kakuyuni area, she stated her disappointment with the alcohol sellers who have resulted to a lot of school drop outs.

"As a teacher I have witnessed bright promising students end up in alcohol addiction due to ignorance of the bar owners who sell alcohol to underage at any time of the day," said Mutinda.

The area Nyumba Kumi initiative chairman James Nthiwa has also come out to request that the court should be charging a higher amount of money or long serving terms to the culprits.

"Police have been hunting down the law breakers but when they are arraigned in court, the amount of cash bail they are asked is very low and affordable so they go back to their old behaviour," said Nthiwa.

The residents demand that an action be taken to ensure alcohol is sold at the right time and to people over the age set by the Constitution of Kenya.
