The Kisii government has been commended for ensuring there are state-of-the art modern machines and equipment at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.
However, the county has been challenged to also ensure there are professionally qualified personnel to operate the equipment for the welfare of patients seeking services at the hospital.
Nyaribari Chache politician Rachel Otundo has lamented that despite making great strides to ensure there are modern machines and equipment at the hospital, it is not enough if the county government does not ensure there are enough professionals to handle the machines and assure patients of their value for money.
Speaking to this writer on Friday morning in her Kisii town office, Otundo said there was one thing in elevating the hospital's status and having services befitting such status in place for the facility to win public confidence.
Otundo challenged the county government to ensure the image of the facility is re-build through professional handling of patients seeking services at the facility if its new status are to have any meaning among the region's residents.
"I have no problem with the elevation of the Kisii Level 5 Hospital into a Teaching and Referral Hospital, but my major problem is the kind of services offered under such status," stated Otundo.
