The county government of Nyamira has been challenged to publish the names of the county employees, regions where they come from and their academic qualifications to vindicate it from skewed employment claims.
The move is also set to ascertain whether basic constitutional provisions of region balance, gender and the youths have been respected by the recruitment agencies.
Nyamira county women rep Ms Alice Chae who is advancing the agenda on Monday said the move will also try to answer various constitutional claims that area leaders have been raising for a while now.
"I decided to come up with the challenge so that the county government should prove some of us wrong who have been raising various issues on skewed employment and irregular tendering by the county government. We want to see whether regional balance, gender and even tendering regulations have been followed as this is the only way they can get rid of suspicions among leaders,” Chae said.
She also demanded names of the various contractors who have won tenders to be made public for the purpose of transparency and accountability.
“We need to know the academic background of employees as well and names of those who win tenders should be made public so that we ascertain whether its friends of the county who are benefiting or just ordinary people, I have a feeling that even tendering regulations have been contravened by the county leadership. We need to see whether youths are getting their share, people with disability and women,” she added.
She gave the county leadership up to the end of January 2016 to comply failure with which, she will mobile other area leaders to protest and file a petition in the Senate for the push the county to comply.
