A High Court in Thika has temporarily stopped Kiambu County government from evicting traders from Madaraka market.
Justice Weldon Korir stopped the eviction pending hearing and determination of Sh64million compensation case which was filed by Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu and Thika Town legislator Alice Ng'ang'a over the arsonist attack.
The two leaders blamed Kiambu governor William Kabogo for the great loss the traders incurred on November 22 during the inferno.
It is alleged that the torching was carried out under the watch of police and county askaris.
The traders claimed that it was plot by the county government to evict them.
According to the legislators, many traders were left out of business after the attack and are suffering psychologically.
The case will be heard December 29.
