A court has ordered a college in Kikuyu to pay a fired worker Sh520,700

The charge sheet stated that on October 14, 2013, Mr Evans Angosi a former peer counselling project coordinator sued Kikuyu Institute of Business Studies after it sacked him without a reason yet he had a contract with the institution.

Mr Angosi who was under a two-year contract to work in the institution was relieved of his duties six months after he signed the contract. He claims to have been sacked with no valid reason.

The institution in its sacking letter stated that they relieved him of duties in a retrenchment exercise due to the increased budget.

Chief magistrate James Ogweno in his judgement on Tuesday said that the institution terminated the complaint's contract prematurely.

He said that both the institution and the complaint had an agreement on payments during the signing of the contract, and that sacking him with the reason that was issued in court was not valid hence they should pay the complainant for the remaining period of the contract left.

"The court orders the Kikuyu Insititute of Business Studies (KIBS) to pay the complainant a total of Sh 520,700 as it prematurely terminated his contract," said Ogweno.

The institution is supposed to pay Mr. Angosi within 30 days.
