Cyber cafe attendants in Athi River sub county have been cautioned against entertaining children during school hours in their business premises.

The warning was issued by the area education officer, Michael Kiema, who said such entertainments places compromise children’s education.

“All cyber cafes operating within Athi River sub county should desist from allowing children to visit them during school hours, this interferes with their education,” said Kiema.

Kiema who addressed the press at his office in Athi River town said some children from the region had been reportedly missing school for the cafes.

He said they cheat their parents to be going to school only to end in the joints where they play computer games till lunch hour and return once they return from home for lunch.

Mr Kiema condemned the act arguing children who miss out classes for such entertainments cannot perform in academics.

He said his department was alert and keen to follow up and investigate any of such cases reported in a move of completely eliminating the vise from the region.

The officer urged the operators to be cooperative less they face full force of the law if they fall culprits of the same.
