Residents and businessmen in Kisii county are all smiles after the county government promised to rebuild roads destroyed by El Nino rains.

According to the area governor, James Ongwae, they have already received calls from the public and are looking forward to carrying out studies so as to identify the roads that were badly damaged and reconstruct.

“We want to rebuild all roads that fall under the county that were damaged by the heavy downfall in the past two months and those which can’t be used due to the ongoing rains also,” said Ongwae.

He said the county government will set aside some funds to ensure the roads are repaired for easy accessibility and improvement of trade.

“We want those involved in the business to have favorable environment following high investments in trade and agribusiness,” added the governor.

He said priority will be given to major roads that have affected many residents following the heavy rains that have pounded most parts of the country.

He added that the move will ensure smooth progress in its endeavor to improve resident’s source of income and movement.

He was speaking on Sunday evening at Kisii stadium during the Kisii town boda boda football cup.
