Daraja Mbili Market traders have lamented over poor waste management by the county government of Kisii in the market.
The traders said the market lacks enough garbage bins.
Dorcas Onyancha, a trader at the market said calls to address the situation have been ignored by the county government.
“Being a big market in Kisii County the number of traders is growing rapidly, we therefore call upon the county government to collect the garbage in time so that we can do our business in a clean environment,” she said.
However, a county official who sought anonymity said most traders don't dump wastes at the designated points, making their collection difficult.
He added that plans are underway to put up more garbage bins within the town and markets to to keep the town tidy.
