Traders at the DC market have complained of the poor state of the facility especially during the rainy seasons.
They have now appealed to Nairobi County government to construct stalls for them so that they can comfortably run their businesses during wet weather.
“We have a big challenge when it rains because we have to put close our businesses. Our commodities are always destroyed when it rains,” said Mercy Kemuma on Friday.
Kemuma who is a phone dealer said traders who sell clothes suffer a lot since they cannot sell wet clothes.
Moses Ogola, greengrocer said his biggest challenge storage of his vegetables when it rains.
“I face a lot of challenges when it rains because I don’t have any stall to store my vegetables. They end up being rained on and this subjects them to early rotting,” said Ogola.
“If the county government can construct stalls for us, we will be very grateful. We are ready to be paying for the licences and levies. Our onions and tomatoes also get washed away by running water therefore incur losses,” said Martine Wekesa.
