Ngala Secondary School for the deaf held the first student leaders elections where students elected their preferred leaders.

The elections were held on Friday at the school grounds where the 87 students participated.

During the exercise, the students elected the president, the deputy and departmental heads. 

School Principal John Gachiga said they held the elections as a compliance with the Ministry of Education regulations. 

"The ministry requires every school to hold elections for the student leaders where students elect their own leaders and that is what we did today,"he said.

Daniel Mwangi, a form four student was elected the president.

IEBC oversaw the polls.
