Taking a child to high school is always the joy for many parents as it will give their children an opportunity to make their dreams in life come true.
But to some Kibera residents, things are not well.
The children they have banked their hopes on have disappointed them.
Their worrying performance in last year's Kenya Certificate of Primary Education is a source of concern to them.
When the 2015 KCPE results were released, John Wanyonyi, a Kibera resident hoped that his first borne child would perform to his expectation.
But the 35 year old father of three was shocked.
His son only managed to score an unconvincing 235 marks.
That did not only disappoint him but also made him shocked as he had hoped for something bigger than than that.
His son had always been at the top and had not expected anything short of 300 marks and above.
However, he has nothing else to do as his son is unwilling to go back to school to re-seat the exams.
"He has declared that he will not repeat", said Wanyonyi whose general body language suggested he was facing a tough decision to make.
He spoke to this writer on Saturday.
He added that many parents are faced with the same problem and his claims were backed by Elizabeth Awuor who said her daughter too had performed dismally and was unwilling to return to school.
