Riverbank Academy in Kisii County managed to post good results in last year's KCPE examinations due to learners’ discipline, hard work and cooperation from parents.
Director Dr Josephat Machuka Nyagero also attributes the school's good performance to hiring of highly qualified teaching staff and the strong foundation of Christian values that they inculcate in their pupils.
Last year, the school registered twelve (12) candidates for KCPE examinations, with the best candidate, Oibi George Abiathas scoring 404 marks and the last candidate attaining 265 out of 500 marks.
The school’s mean score improved by a positive deviation of 21.21 points after posting a mean of 308.83 points, up from 287 points in 2014 KCPE results.
Speaking to this writer on Wednesday, Dr Nyagero said that since its inception, the school has been stressing on quality education and holistic growth and development of the learners.
“Over the years, our KCPE candidates have been excelling and securing admissions in best performing county and national schools from where they proceed to universities across the country to pursue various careers of their choice,” he said.
Nyagero disclosed that true to the school motto; Arise and Shine, the school located in Nyamemiso-Kegati shopping centre along the Kisii-Keroka highway was steadily climbing the academic ladder, setting its sights on claiming a share of the county's best performing schools in KCPE.
According to Dorcas Magoma (school manager), the school was started in 1999, admitting its first learners for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classes before expanding to both lower and upper primary classes.
Mrs Magoma said that the school presented its first batch of KCPE candidates in 2003.
She said the school also offers computer lessons to its learners to empower them with Information Communication Technology (ICT) skills and knowledge for them to be relevant in the fast evolving technological world.
