A number of scholars across the country have joined hands to eulogize political scientist and philosopher Prof Joseph Nyasani who passed on in a Nairobi hospital on Friday with unity calls taking center stage.
The renown Professor was highly celebrated in the academic field’s untimely death is not only a blow to intellectualism but also to the fourth estate given his contribution when working at Voice of Kenya now KBC.
Historian Prof Soloveo Bogonko termed the death as a huge blow to intellectualism field and a setback on unity calls in the country given Nyasani’s persistent integration calls among Kenyan societies.
“I am still shocked because this is a huge blow to the intellectualism world. He was full of knowledge on matters philosophy. We can only remember his enormous contributions by living in harmony because that was his theme everywhere he went,” he said in an interview.
Prof Ondigi Abaya hailed the fallen professor as a person who was full of humility and love to people regardless of the economic or tribal background.
“It’s an immense blow to the world at large. He had a strong Catholic background no wonder he was full of humility and love. He never discriminated anyone and it will be essential if we live and practice what he did when he was alive,” he said.
Former Standard Group journalist Dr Vincent Moracha paid tribute to the late Professor saying he was a pioneer of Kenyan media industry.
“The Media owes him a lot. He was the first Kenyan to hold an international press card and was full of humor making life look simple. As Kenyans, we should celebrate his life by living together in harmony,” he said.
Till his death, Nyasani worked as a lecturer at the University of Nairobi in the department of social sciences and was among the pioneers of Kisii University.
