Nyando MP Fred Outa has called upon the Luo Community to ensure they do not double register as the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission kicks off voter registration countrywide.
Outa said those who had registered should not go for any further registration.
He said that double registration will lead to arrest and spoilt vote during the voting day when the country goes to the elections in 2017.
“Our people should be sensitise on who should go for the registration, in case of a double registration then Raila Odinga will lose that vote,” he said.
The MP said the registration that kicks off today are for those people who had not registered those who lost their voter’s card and those who want to change their voting stations.
Speaking at the ODM Nyando branch office in Ahero on Monday to launch the voter registration exercise, Outa called for ODM supporters to come out in large numbers to register.
He said those who need the voters’ card should spare a minute of their busy schedule to go and register as a voter.
Outa said after the one month period the exercise will continue at the IEBC offices in all the constituencies.
“Registration will be open after the one month exercise at the IEBC offices based at the constituency level,” he said.
He said this is the opportunity for the community to mobilise potential voters to turn out and register as voters.
