Kisii based economist Peter Oliech has cautioned Kisii residents against selling their lands recklessly.

He raised the concern saying a number of residents have the tendency of going for quick money and selling their lands to prospective investors.

He has cautioned the residents that they will become squatters if they keep on selling their lands citing Keroga as one of the towns most affected by the selling.

“Where will your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren live when you sell all the land," said Oliech.

"Don’t be tempted to go for the quick money which never last. You will end up being squatters in your own land,”  added Oliech.

He said land business is booming now in the region with investors looking for lands to construct business buildings.

"The person you sell your land to benefit while you stand to lose. Be wise, you better ask for a loan and build even two rooms for rental as you progressively build more,” added Oliech.
