Kisii County youths in the boda-boda industry are set to benefit from a funds drive in aid of their businesses to be presided over by the Deputy President William Ruto scheduled for 24th January this year.
Kisii County youth leaders led by Douglas Ogari has disclosed that the funds drive was part of the fruits of the Gusii community members' delegation to Ruto's Sugoi home recently and warned those politicising the trip to weigh its benefits to the community instead of making alarming statements on the matter.
Speaking to the press on Thursday at a Kisii hotel, Ogari said the funds drive will assist in empowering young people in the boda-boda business in the region to grow economically instead of chasing handouts from politicians.
"The trip achieved several objectives including asking the Deputy President to consider young people for state job opportunities to ensure they also benefit from the national cake," stated Ogari.
"I am assuring our youth in the bodaboda industry that the Deputy President William Ruto will be here on 24th January this year to preside over a funds drive in aid of their bodaboda business since that was part of the agenda of those of us who went to the Deputy President's Sugoi home led by our Kisii Deputy Governor, Joash Maangi," stated Ogari.
