Ogra Foundation Director Dr Hezron Makobewa has appealed for long term coexistence between Nyakach and Kericho residents.
Dr Makobewa who toured Nyakach and met several stakeholders and community leaders at Sondu market emphasised on the need for peaceful coexistence.
He said Sondu market brings together Luo, Nandi and Kisii communities thus the need for locals to live harmoniously.
“When we fight we lose a lot in terms of investments we have put up several years ago. I appeal to you to live as brothers and sisters. No hatred should make us turn against each other with crude weapons,” he said.
Speaking on Sunday at Sondu market, Dr Makobewa said the three communities have inter-married and there is no cause why they should not live in peace.
He said security of the people is fundamental to spur any meaningful growth in the area.
Dr Makobewa said security agents should ensure that cases of cattle rusting are dealt with as a way of cementing peace.
He said for peace to prevail, locals must unite together and fight criminal activities among them that always ignite clashes along the border.
“We should not allow cattle rustlers to divide us, let us deal with cattle rustlers as criminals and report them to law enforcement officers,” he said.
Dr Makobewa met local ODM party officials, religious leaders, among others as a way of finding peace along the border.
