Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Hassan Abdi has put on notice drug peddlers selling hard drugs to students.

Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Abdi said the sale of illegal drugs was rampant in universities and secondary schools. 

"I have received reports from my officers on the ground that the there are some drug dealers purporting to be businessmen selling cakes to students that have drugs. The sale of drugs to students is illegal according to the law," he said.

He said students should stay vigilant and be aware of such individuals who want to ruin their future. 

"The most targeted are secondary schools and universities where there is booming business since the students are innocent," he said.

He gave a stern warning to drug peddlers selling drugs to students their their days are numbered and they will be brought to book. 

"My officers have started investigations in all schools and universities and anyone who will be found will face the wrath of the law. We are determined to end the vice once and for all," he said. 

He urged religious leaders to help them in the fight against the vice by teaching them good morals at a tender age which will prevent them from indulging in the use of drugs.
