Farmers from Eburi village, Giasaiga Sub-Location in Sameta Sub-County are counting losses after heavy rains believed to be El Nino flooded their farms on Monday evening.

Stanley Kenyenga, one of the farmers whose maize and banana crops were submerged by the floods, lamented that his half-acre farm was flattened by flash floods, leaving him prone to hunger as it was the only source of food for his family.

"I am lost of words since my only farm has been flattened by the floods caused by heavy rains experienced in our area last evening and I don't know where I will get food for my family as I have no other alternative source of income for the same," stated Kenyenga.

Another farmer, Yunuke Ontobo also says her one-acre maize farm was washed off by the floods, leaving her farm bare without anything to count on in terms of food crops.

"I am a worried since I have lost my maize crops to the flash floods caused by heavy rains experienced in this area last evening,"lamented Ontobo.
