With qualified Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers within Nakuru County decrying being alienated by the County Public Service Board by not being considered during employment, the governor has moved in to assure them that plans were underway to formulate a structure to facilitate their employment.
Speaking in Ngumo, Murindat ward in Gilgil on Thursday, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua noted that early child development was a very important aspect of a child’s academic growth that ought to be given the seriousness it deserved, arguing that the stalemate between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and counties should be resolved to allow trained ECDE teachers impact knowledge to the society.
There is a clash of ideas between TSC and counties on which party should be in charge of the teachers but so far, counties have expressed their commitment to taking charge so as to end the issue.
Governor Mbugua further noted that under his administration, schools and other institutional of vocational learning are set to receive infrastructural facelifts as he strives at improving the quality of education.
“I remain committed to my vow of ensuring the county government continues to partner with schools by upgrading infrastructures, repairing access and feeder roads so as to open up different areas and improve the quality of education in our County,” he stated.
He also promised to equip public ECDE schools so as to ensure that they become equally competitive with their private counterparts who have continued to enjoy doubled enrolments due to taping qualified teachers and having good facilities.
He was officially commissioning more than five new classes that were funded by the Nakuru County government in partnership with the Kinuthia Foundation.
The governor was in the company of area MCA Monicah Gitau and other senior directors from the County Government.
