The Athi River sub-county director of education Joseph Kiema has condemned a private school for its consistent poor performance in KCSE.
Addressing the press in his office in Athi River town on Tuesday, Kiema said Sun Rise High School has a poor record of wasting children.
“I condemn the poor performance of Sun Rise High School, it is tainting the Athi River Sub County’s image since it has never performed reasonably since it was established," said Kiema.
Kiema said it is not a surprise that the candidates who sat the last year’s KCSE at the school failed in the examinations miserably.
He blamed the consistent poor performance of the school in examinations year in year out to its management which he described as “rogue” management.
“As a ministry, we have had lots of problems with the management of this school. The management is very poor, in fact it has a rogue management,” said Kiema.
Kiema said the school’s director who is a local politician in the area was undermining the ministry and had therefore refused to listen to its advice.
He said the schools management was incompetent and had hired unqualified teachers who cannot yield results.
Kiema said the school was doing injustice to the parents whose children learn there.
