Education standards in Nakuru County have improved taking into consideration the performance of the 2015 KCPE, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has said.

The county boss was speaking on Wednesday at Mai Mahiu Boys Secondary School where he donated 50 mattresses and other bedding. 

Mbugua's visit comes two months after deputy Governor Joseph Rutto also toured with a donation of 300 blankets following a fire that razed property in one of the dormitories.

The incident is still under investigation.

In his speech, the governor urged the national government to fast-track devolving of the remaining education functions to the counties which will help in facilitating, more so the construction and maintenance of infrastructure.

"The county government of Nakuru has built about 500 ECDE classes thus is suited to handle development. About 12 projects are in the offing in Mai Mahiu as they will be tendered soon," he said.

He was accompanied by his deputy, Minister for Education Francis Mathea, area MCA Stephen Ngethe among other leaders and county officials.
