Four years since the government started the fund for elderly, many old people are yet to benefit from the fund.

Those who have missed the fund complain of nepotism and favouritism in allocation the money which the government said is meant to support the old who can no longer earn a living.

Many are now questioning why the government has not made a follow-up into the allocation to ensure it's fair.

Mary Nyambur, 76, a widow from Sasimwa sub-location, said her efforts to get a share of the government money has been all in vain despite several trips to the chief to register her name.

"We have made several trips to DC's office also but we have never been assisted. I gave my name to our chairman but it has not been registered yet, " Nyambura said.

Nyambura said that she is suspecting some people might be working fraudulently with involved offices to benefit from the funds meant for the elderly as deserving parties continue to languish in poverty.

She called on the Ministry involved to do an audit of all the beneficiaries.
