Uasin Gishu County woman representative Eusilah Ngeny has urged women to embrace table banking to benefit from the Affirmative Action Social Development Fund that is yet to be disbursed.
Speaking during a women’s forum in Eldoret town on Sunday, Ngeny said table banking has played a vital role in empowering women financially.
"Through table banking, it is easier for women to save money in their chamas and thereafter access loans at affordable rates that will help them improve their livelihoods," she said.
She said through table banking, women have been empowered financially and no longer fully depend on their husbands for cash as was the case before.
"This year, we have been given Sh40 million for Affirmative Action Fund. These monies will only be distributed to registered women groups that have embraced table banking," she said.
"I urge women from Uasin Gishu County to take advantage and apply for the fund, and if you don’t know how to apply, my office is open and you will be guided on what to do," she said.
