The government has been urged to employ chiefs in Igonga division, Bonchari constituency to fight illegal illicit brew in the area.

The plea has come after Bomariba and Borogo location chiefs retired from their jobs prompting the increase of illicit brew in the area.

Speaking on Monday in Bonchari during the crackdown of illicit brew in the area Kisii county deputy Commissioner Thomas Bett urged the government to make sure it replaces the vacancies left by the two chiefs who had retired from their jobs few months ago.

“There is an increase of liquor and chang’aa in Igonga Division because there are no chiefs to fight against those who prepare,” said Bett.

“I urge the government to employ chiefs that can replace those vacancies to help the situation in the area before it gets worse,” added Bett.

During the crackdown that was done by Thomas Bett 3,000 litres of chang’aa were poured and urged those involve in such business to stop immediately and do alternative business that can help them in future
