Bodaboda operators at Engen area in Thika have been asked to be seeking financial advice in order to benefit from the earnings they make from their bodaboda job.
Speaking to the operators on Thursday, a Thika based renowned businesswoman Agnes Wambui said that many operators in the sector don't save at all and therefore end up benefiting very little.
"Most of the operators in the sector do not know the essence of saving. They spend everything they earn daily and tomorrow they start all over again. That is an example of how things shouldn't be done. We are encouraging them to for instance form Sacco's where they can be saving little by little," said Wambui.
She added that the operators can benefit from those Sacco's through loans which they can use to start small projects that can generate them extra income as they continue with their bodaboda work.
"I have been telling various bodaboda groups in this town that they can do more if they unite and work as a group. There is a lot that they can get with those Sacco's and enjoy full financial independence," she said.
Wambui asked them not shy away from seeking advice from those with financial knowledge as well as successful business people in the area.
