Plastic materials vendors alias ‘mali mali vendors’ have been advised to partner with plastic material recyclers to reduce waste products by making them useful in the community.

Health and environment officer in Gatundu North Beatrice Mueni noted on Monday that many vendors from the area purchase the selling materials in Nairobi and other parts of the country leaving the area recyclers with fewer markets.

"I know we can and we will win the environment mess in our sub-county if our vendor’s buy their stock from Warendi recycling companies the only one we currently have here. This will help the company recycle more reducing waste materials around us which will eventually reduce waste-related diseases," she said.

Speaking from Kamwangi town on Tuesday, the officer noted that the waste mayhem experience in the sub-county can be eliminated with concerted efforts of both the government and residents.

Asked about the worrying state of Gituamba dumpsite, the officer warned hotel owners to stop littering around adding that he will soon support a recycling company to start a branch in Gituamba.

"I have been to Gituamba and I made a warning to hotel owners who litter the town carelessly. I will soon engage with Warendi Company to see whether they can start a branch in Gituamba," he said.

This comes after the media highlighted the worrying state of Gituamba dumpsite.
