Residents of Chania and its in environs have been challenged to conserve waterfall found in the area.
The officer in charge of environment in Gituamba ward, Dorothy Iregi, on Monday said conservation of such sites is an easy way of selling attracting tourists.
‘We have two waterfalls here in Gituamba which are Chania and Kariri. These are sites where both domestic and international tourists visit,’ Iregi said.
Iregi warned parents who wash clothes from the river that her office will not tolerate the act. She said leads to the spread of waterborne diseases.
‘It has come to my attention that some parents wash clothes from the river releasing all the dirt there. This is leading to spread of water borne diseases like Cholera and Typhoid," she said.
