More than 200 people turned up for the Kenya Forest Challenge that took place on Sunday at the Keriita Forest.

The new initiative by the East Africa Wildlife Society is meant to stem deforestation in Kenya.

The East African Wild Life Society and the Kijabe Environment Volunteers Organisation unveiled the new programme dubbed the 'Forest Challenge' meant to encourage people to support forestry conservation initiatives through financial aid.

The two bodies came together to hold the first Forest Challenge.

This year’s event saw not less than 200 people participating in 12 teams.

Ansell Pharmaceuticals emerged the overall winner bagging the Swara trophy.

The teams of 5 participated in fun and grueling activities in Keriita forest South Abadare.

The challenge was designed to test team dynamics, mental endurance and physical toughness.

Teams of 5 people will be invited to participate in fun but grueling activities within the South Aberdare Forest.

They include The Balloon Reach, Dark Tunnel, Slippery Hill, Tyre walk.

Others are Sack race, Balloon Blow, Mud Crawl spider web, Ditch Walk and Name Search.
