Equity Bank founder and chairman Dr James Mwangi has pledged pay for the education of a boy from Kiandutu.
The boy has been seeking financial support from him to pursue his dream career.
Speaking when he visited Brian Maina’s home in Kiandutu on Thursday, Dr Mwangi said that the boy has been approved for a sponsorship in the Equity’s Wings to fly initiative and that he will ensure the youngster pursues his dream.
Dr Mwangi, who was accompanied by the Norwegian Ambassador to Kenya Victor Conrad Ronneberg, was overseeing the Wings to Fly scholarship selection board home verification exercise.
He said that the boy deserved help as according to the state of affairs in his homestead; the humble family background couldn’t manage the education of the victorious boy.
Brian, who scored 416 marks in last year's KCPE, lives with his blind grandmother in Kiandutu and his mother who is unemployed and only depends on casual labour in the outskirts of Thika town.
The Form One Selection Board indicates that Brian Maina was selected to join Kagumo Boys High School, a boy's national secondary school in Nyeri.
