Farmers have been urged to plant drought resistant crops in order to curb the issue of food insecurity following the onset of the dry seasons.
Anne Kavemba from the Ministry of Agriculture Kisumu county has urged farmers to plant drought resistant crops such as sorghum, millet, cassava, and grass among others.
She has urged farmers not to give up despite the harsh weather but instead plant these drought resistant crops.
“Farmers should now concentrate on planting drought resistant crops. This is the only way we will be assured of food security in the region. If you have difficulties, our offices are always open; pay us a visit and we will be able to help you out,” said Anne.
The dry season is expected to extend to March.
