Panic has gripped residents of Nakuru West owing to water shortage that has now driven them to seek the precious commodity from water kiosks and vendors.
The residents on Tuesday claimed that they were now facing the prospects of contracting water borne diseases because there was no safety guarantee to the waters they were being sold.
Timothy Kimani, a resident of Kaptembwa, admitted that he was increasingly becoming apprehensive over his safety owing to the waters that he was buying.
"As much as water vendors are delivering to us water at our doorsteps at a fee, we are not quite certain on their origin hence the fear for our health," he said.
His fears were confirmed by a boda boda operator who only introduced himself as Mwas, who lamented that they have been pushed to tapping on rain water from their rooftops.
He added that such waters were not only dusty, but equally dangerous to their health and called upon Nakuru Water and Sanitation Services Company (Nawassco) to move fast and supply water in the area.
The sub county is among those which were hard hit by the cholera disease mid last year.
