The long-serving chairman of KANU political party in Kangundo Sub-County Phillip Mulalya has called upon leaders to provide transport for residents to voter registration areas.

Mulalya on Tuesday in Tala town stated that people need to be aware that only through voting that innovative leaders are found.

He, therefore, stated that current elected leaders should ferry people the same way they do during political rallies. 

"The elected leaders like MCAs and MPs should send their agents to the villages just the way they did during campaign periods. This will give motivation to many youths who are idling at home and have no plans of registering," said Mulalya.

He further stated more education needed to be given to residents of Eastern as they are not yet well versed with the importance of a vote. 

"Our people at the grassroots are not aware of the importance of a vote or why voting is a crucial thing," he added.

This comes as the voter registration exercise enters its 9th day in all parts of the county.
